12.30.08 Two wild and crazy guys

Shockingly enough, no alcohol was consumed during this impromptu pre-NYE photo session. That's Brian on the left and Fernando on the right sporting a wig afro we raided from the props closet (along with the empty champagne bottle and other celebratory items).

12.27.08 Christmas morning (well, it is to us)

Joe and Jack nom on some Christmas morning monkey bread after we opened presents

I made these two monkeys and their cousin, Lexi, honorary Mudbugs by giving them each a killer shirt. I got some fantastic gifts, too, including a homemade quilt made my Mary Anne that incorporates musical notes and my favorite color.

12.26.08 Christmas continues

Santa is running a little behind and he plans to stop by the Jungman house tonight. We celebrated tonight by eating a ton of meat (13 pounds of brisket) and I watched Denise make monkey bread (a tradition in her home) for the morning.

I think this is one of my favorite ornaments on Denise's tree.

12.25.08 Triple Dog Dare You

CRG and me spent the day watching "A Christmas Story" (several times), made Christmas Chicken Curry and sipped on Bloody Marys, napped, and then went to the movie theater to watch "Spirit."

Later, we met up with Denise and her family at a Chinese restaurant for Christmas dinner. The "A Christmas Story" fans in my life will appreciate this footage I shot at the restaurant. Fa Ra Ra Ra Ra.

12.24.08 A Clone Trooper Christmas

Here's the recipient of the Star Wars Voice Changer, courtesy of his faaaaather.

This is the warrior unmasked and a very short video of him in action.

12.23.08 holiday parties times three

I went to three holiday parties and somehow made it to bed by 10 p.m. Yes, I'm getting old, but I did start partying at 4 p.m.

Some of the highlights were:
1. Convincing Peggy Bing to accept my Facebook friendship.
2. Seeing Diane Lewis aglow in the necklace Dan Rouser gave her. "He's finally trying to win my favor," she said.
3. Admiring Fran's gigantic stocking collection.
5. Denise and Annie mugging for the camera.

12.22.08 sugar at every desk

We had more cookies than people in the newsroom today. These are the cutest Santa cookies I've ever seen. I am no baker but I think they were made using marshmallows, chocolate chips, cinnamon hearts and a heart-shaped cookie cutter.

12.21.08 Lots of Christmas carols...

and one Chanukah song that somehow morphed into a medley of songs from "Fiddler On The Roof." Oy.

12.20.08 Spoons

This is my nephew Owen rockin' out on the spoons (percussion is a family thing with us). His family stopped by on their way from Texas to Nebraska where they will spend the holidays in a place that's even colder than Wichita. Brrrrrrrr.

12.19.08 Clone Trooper

Spent the day boosting the economy by buying lots of gifts. One lucky boy in my life is going to receive a Star Wars Voice Changer (Greg, sorry, but it's not you.)

12.16.08 yes, I did get slammed by a snowball to the head

This is the kid who hit me with a snowball. His friends made him pay for it by tagging him a few times. Those boys had my back. I love a good snowball fight.

12.15.08 YO

Here it is from the reverse. You see, this is the perfect Hanukwanzmas decoration (I made it years ago by snapping the J off of JOY).

If you're now in the Hanukwanzmas mood and would like some tunes with you hot chocolate, well, I've got one here. Happy Hanukwanzmas!

12.14.08 Oy to the world

It hadn't felt like Christmas until today when I put up a few decorations around the house, including my holiday OY sign. Oddly enough, my OY sign brought me some joy.

12.13.08 Mudbugs thong

I created this lovely thong (and photographed it against my ride cymbal) for a Mudbug fan who lives far away from here (at her request). As far as I know, it's the only one in existence, but more can be ordered here.

We Mudbugs have just uploaded our Cajun Christmas tune. You can listen to it here. I'm sorry to say that there are no thongs in our Christmas pic. Enjoy.

12.12.08 three plates

That's Carter's pile of done dishes at the Indian buffet. He ate everything, including goat. He was a satisfied man.

12.11.08 that boy was schooled

I was shooting the high school student on the right when the boy on the left gave me a cliche warning that she might break the camera. BOOM! The girl punched him so hard it was like a bass drum pounding in my ear. It was pretty awesome.

12.10.08 the sun is returning

Does anyone know what goes on in this building? I've driven by it just about every day for the past decade and I have no idea what it is used for.

12.08.08 spotted in my sister's kitchen

Not to worry, my sister doesn't serve most of these things on the list. My 2-year-old niece, Ursula, likes it when her folks write words on the kitchen chalkboard and this is the list she came up with. Tasty.

12.06.08 my personal inferno

That's my sister delivering a peanut butter chocolate chili cinnamon ice cream cake with 34 freakin' candles. It took me a few tries to extinguish the massive fire.

12.05.08 the welcoming committee

My sister and adorable niece greeted me at O'Hare with this hand-painted sign and balloons. It doesn't get much better than this.

12.04.08 spotted at Caffe Moderne

That dude has some pink cheeks. He's pretty cute, though. Speaking of cute...you must take a look at this video Denise made of Lexi telling Santa what she and Norton want for Christmas.

P.S. My friend Shay in Atlanta just started a blog similar to this. Check it out.

12.03.08 a sociological dig

You can learn a lot about someone by peeking inside their junk drawer. It look like I'm a lover of music (see plastic kazoo and harmonica), bubbles and Star Wars - two of those three things are correct.

P.S. The Girl Power bracelet belongs to the littlest CRG, although I am a supporter of the Girl Power movement.

12.02.08 ahhhhhhh...sunsets

Went to Emporia today with two of the best people I know, Jonathan and Joanna. (Joanna, was that what you wanted me to say? I can't remember.) Anyway, I shot this driving home through the Flint Hills at sunset and I did have a good trip with great company.

12.01.08 found at the bottom of a junk drawer

It must be at least eight years old since I haven't used the stuff since 2000. I thought I'd miss film when we made the switch over to digital, but I can't say that I do one bit.

Now, does anyone know where I can find film for my Kodak disk camera? That was the first camera I ever owned. I used it as a 7-year-old to take portraits of my stuffed animals. Quality, I tell ya.

11.30.08 JOY

I crashed the Belle Plaine JOY session this morning. They do it up with blueberry pancakes, sausage, bacon, eggs, and of course, bubbly.

11.29.08 Thanksgiving - Round Two

Ma Green cooked up some mean casseroles and pies. There was enough food to feed the entire town of Wellington. It was delish and, after two Thanksgiving feasts, I should probably take a break from eating until 2009.

11.28.08 peace biscuits

That's Denise flashing a peace sign while her mama mixes the sausage and gravy we later poured over buttery biscuits. As you can see, the nonstop Thanksgiving noshing didn't stop on Thursday night.

11.27.08 the tryptophan has set in

The post-Thanksgiving meal nap is for all of God's creatures. Here's a short film I created of the meal that put this sleepy spell on all of us.

11.26.08 went to school

I watched Lexi this morning while her folks did some shopping. We played a game she created called “school,” which oddly resembles her school routine. The children (Beanie Babies for us) play, read, eat and nap. A naughty note is sent home if they don’t behave and that’s what Ms. Lexi is crafting in this photography. The little kitty to the left did not nap and, even worse, pushed a classmate.

I remembered that I also watched Lexi on the day before Thanksgiving in 2005. She was far too little then to be writing naughty notes, instead she spent most of the time gnawing the turkey bag box.

11.25.08 I now use cruise control all of the time

I rode around with a police officer while he pulled people over for speeding. This outing brought up some bad memories of my brush with the law.

He told me that even though I broke the law by exceeding the speed limit, I'm not a bad person. This made me feel better.

We also talked about one of my favorite shows (and his, too), "Dexter." I learned by watching that show that police departments pay people to be confidential informants. I told him that I have some acting skills and wondered if I could get the job. He told me that NObody would ever sell me drugs and I wouldn't know how to find them. Um, I guess that's a compliment.

11.24.08 Yard-O-Beef

I purchased this today. It's a sign that Thanksgiving is almost here. All of my loved ones love the Yard-O-Beef.

11.23.08 it's beginning to look a lot like a Cajun Christmas

The Mudbugs spent some time in the studio recording our Christmas song. It's good. It's real good and I can't wait to share it very soon.

We also managed to squeeze in a photo shoot (something we hadn't done since Juliah became our washboard player earlier this year). Here's one of the outtakes. I'm secretly firing the trigger with a hidden remote in my right hand while going in for a kiss at the same time. I've got talent.

11.22.08 champagne wishes and flaming cheese dreams

Celebrated Denise and Mike's birthdays with beautiful drinks (that's a floating raspberry in champagne) and FLAMING cheese.

11.21.08 Sweat & The Frigid City

I shot this running self-portrait after I took a group photo at the last day of Shocker Fitness. It was brutally cold this morning.

11.20.08 not your traditional symphonic instrument

Kentucky White was a guest performer with the Wichita Symphony Orchestra. They orchestra played Americana music for just about every elementary student in the metro area. Kenny played a few solos on the banjo and talked about its history.

11.19.08 it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

That's Denise, her mama and me in an ornament at Dillard's. We're really good at taking department store photos.

11.17.08 It's gonna be a Cajun Christmas

Spent the day in the studio writing and recording a Christmas song for the Mudbugs. Somehow we managed to rhyme jambalaya with Christmas pie-ya. I know you can't wait.

Here's last year's holiday song. This year's is gonna be much more raucous.

11.16.08 cuzzins

Lexi enjoys some fall frolicking with her cousins Jack and Joe. The boys are here all week while their folks fiesta in Mexico. Denise is holding up well.

11.12.08 from the rooftop

It's getting dark way too early. Not a big fan of shorter days.

11.11.08 neighborly visit

The crazy Kansas wind tore a piece of my fence off while I was away. I came home to find my neighbor's dog chilling in my backyard.
