06.30.09 auction

Went to an auction of a Ford dealership that recently closed down. This is Ben and I dig his look. He had that cigar in his mouth the entire hour. Flippin' sweet.

06.27.09 Oeno

It was a hot time in Old Town on Saturday night! Next stop for the Mudbugs is the Pumphouse on July 11.

06.27.09 Joe's cd release party

Joe released his newest cd "So Last Year" at the Artichoke Friday night. He is already hard at work on his next album, "Drinking Songs For Every Occasion" and, trust me, he has spent a lot of time researching the subject.

He opened the show with "I Touched Neil Young's Car" and I'm working on the video right now.

06.25.09 I smell the Fourth

This isn't my personal collection (I'm actually not a fan of pyrotechnics). I shot it at a fireworks stand that is going to open in a few short days.

06.24.09 book club

Book club was at my house. Brenda made it down and brought some good stories to share.

06.21.09 Later On Fiesta

G. Marc sports a shirt that his friend designed and surprised him with at his "Later On (Not Goodbye) Fiesta" at the Stick & Rudder Club. See the stick and rudder hovering over Marc and Denise? Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of the fantastic airplane chairs where guests sit, drink and kibbitz.

06.20.09 he's got some growing to do

Colin models the shirt I gave his papa for Father's Day. It fits his dad perfectly.

06.19.09 toe-tappin' tunes

As you can see, musical talent runs in the family.

06.18.09 good times

My niece Avery eyes Carter as he balances a bottle of ketchup on his head. My sister-in-law stopped in on her way from Texas to Nebraska with my niece and nephew. We played kickety kickball and had lots of good noms.

This is a still from a video I shot at the Kansas African American Museum. I LOVE my new camera.

06.14.09 Mickie & the Fantasticks

Bonnie and I went to our friend Mickie's surprise birthday party to celebrate her 90 years of living. Her daughter hired a singing group called The Fantasticks and, well, they totally lived up to their name. Check out the video here.

06.13.09 summer solstice (well, close enough)

I spent Saturday at the Summer Solstice Garden Party at the Bartlett Arboretum. I've gone every year since its inception and I think we're up to six.

I had a very difficult time picking out the pic of the day. You can see the rest of the photos here in this video. I just love those smokin' hot ladies under that bunting. It's classic!

06.12.09 Rock Island Live

Washboard player extraordinaire, Juliah Ewing at Friday night's very rockin' show at Rock Island Live.

There's a baby Mudbug growing behind that washboard and it looks like I'll have to put in another order for one of these in six months. Our accordion player is responsible for the business I've given Cafe Press over the past two years. Keep those babies coming. We're building the Mudbugs 2030 band now with the help of the Ewings.

06.10.09 WICHITA

This is the entrance to Wichita Southeast High School. It was built in 1957 and, well, I just think it looks cool.

A couple of famous people attended Wichita Southeast High: my boss and Sam's boss.

06.09.09 Rock Island Live

The fine folks at Rock Island Live had a bunch of cool posters printed up for us to promote Friday's show and I posted one onto our bulletin board in the photo department. The venue is awesome. They have a great patio that we'll fill with some rockin' Cajun & Zydeco.

06.08.09 Little Lexi is getting big

Lexi inherited a purple bike from her friend Maddy and she sped off like she had been riding for years. She fell off once while turning a sharp corner, cried a bit (no blood or scrapes), and then hopped back on it. Pretty impressive stuff.

Oh, and yesterday she became a master swimmer.

06.07.09 if quilts could walk...

...they'd probably wear pink Crocs!

06.06.09 Whitney & Ryan

Denise and I were back at the Arb shooting the wedding of Whitney and Ryan. That's Whitney cooling down before the ceremony. We took some beautiful photos (the stunning bride and venue made it difficult not to).

I recently put together a video of the last wedding we shot at the Arb two weeks ago.

06.05.09 laying down tracks

Carter and I had an awesome day at Greenjeans Studios. We put down drum tracks for songs we are recording with the Mudbugs and we wrote two new ones. One is in French (CRG wrote that one) and another is in English that we wrote together called "You Can't Play Cajun In Kansas."

Colin worked on his handstand.

06.04.09 my job doesn't suck

It's been a very long week at work and I was thrilled with my assignment on Thursday to cover the opening of a new aquatic center. I love the opportunity to get in the water with my underwater camera. Check out the video here.

Shot some rehearsal photos of the first show Music Theatre of Wichita is doing this season, "The Producers." This is Ulla hanging out to the side of the set.

06.01.09 my new flowers

It was nice to take a break this evening from the circus around me and gaze at my new potted plants. I'd tell you what they are, but I have already forgotten.
