Shortly after my friend Diane was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, she asked me to take her portrait. She feared that without a current photograph, the Eagle would run this picture of her that I took of her in 2000 during the production of "Evita." We did more wine drinking than picture taking and, well, thank the fine folks at Canon for their great auto focus system.
Denise and I photographed an incredible wedding on Saturday. This was taken at the beautiful Scottish Rite Center where the reception was held. Love that place! There are all kinds of awesome rooms to shoot.

Nikon had a print advertising campaign when I was a teenager that showed a professional baseball player cracking the bat in two similar to what you see above. I used to fantasize about one day taking a picture like that. Well, it took almost twenty years, but I did it (sorta). If I remember correctly, the Nikon picture showed the player's face and the background was a lot less cluttered. Oh well, I guess that's what I get for using a Canon.
Had a really long workday, but did get to meet friends for lunch in Baxter, Kansas. We devoured this fried strawberry cheesecake.
Saw some lightning in the distance of this scene and I waited, waited, and waited to shoot a picture of it when it reappeared. That didn't happen, so you see a train and nothing fancy in the sky. Maybe next time.
Looking up at this basketball goal reminded me of playing basketball in the driveway until the wee hours of the morning with KDB #23 and my brother Josh. Good times.
Spent the wee hours of the morning at a high school photographing the first football practice of the season that began at midnight. I also shot lunchtime at an elementary school (pictured above and doesn't it look yummy).

I tagged along with the cast of "High School Musical 2" while they did some shots for their playbill. Had fun and hummed their song FOR THE REST OF THE DAY!
Greg's birthday gift from his sweet wife was a sweet electric fiddle. Niiiiiiice.
I ordered a case of Cajun seasoning that arrived in a box of popcorn - REAL popcorn! It also warned us not to eat it.

I shot tons of images along with C 10 in Minnesota this weekend. This is probably the most unusual. That's Derek getting shorn at his barber shop hours before the wedding. There are stuffed animals all over the place. They recently took out a chair and replaced it with this giant. Only in Minnesota.
I'm packing up gear and headed to Minneapolis (Minnesota, not Kansas) in the morning to shoot a friend's wedding with my friend Carla (the cat is not coming with me). Check out this interview with Carla.
