06.30.10 this is not Air Force One

I was standing on a runway at McConnell Air Force Base when I looked up and saw what looked a lot like the President's fly ride. This plane is often spotted in the skies over Wichita. We hear that it is maintained at the Boeing military facility here in Wichita. I say hear because the Boeing people never confirm when it's in town or that it even exists. The Air Force people we were with turned back and said to us, "Oh. By the way, that wasn't Air Force One." Gotcha.

06.29.10 I've got rhythm

Shooting this rehearsal for "Crazy For You" makes me want to tap. My kickboxing instructor and his wife have season tickets to Music Theatre of Wichita and I'm hoping he is inspired by the show to bring a little bit of tap to our bootcamp.

06.28.10 dummy dogs

"Dummy dogs" is what Carter calls canines who are wild and crazy (most of them). These were no exception. These dogs were stinky and eager to knock us over while running around.

Carter said the other day, "Cats are superior. There are no shows about badly behaved cats."

06.27.10 Cycle Station

I've always loved the look of this building. I've never actually seen any customers or employees but I have seen a lot of cycles hanging out in front of it.

06.26.10 Gimletonics

We've come up with our own drink concoction that is part Gimlet and part G&T. It's gin, tonic, lime juice and fresh limes and it's goooood.

06.25.10 a needed new coat in June

Our house has been painted and I could not be happier. I don't even mind the new red foliage growing along the fence.

06.23.10 African Grey

This guy was a fascinating interview for Diane, although not as good as his neighbor who yelled "How are you?" a gazillion times.

While at the bird store I found a great use for my work.

06.20.10 flying

Several of the guests stuck around on Sunday for a Father's Day brunch with the bride and groom and their clans. These are Eric and Catherine's longtime friends Kevin and Erin. They run a yoga program called Circus Yoga where they teach people how to fly. Pretty cool stuff.

They do a Mardi Gras circus every year where they exercise to Cajun and Zydeco music. They now have our cd to fly to.

06.19.10 Eric & Catherine's wedding

Yay! Eric and Catherine got hitched at the beautiful Lakeside Inn near the beach in Michigan. I shot more than 2,000 frames of the beautiful couple and guests. I'll post more links when I have time in the very near future.

06.18.10 a rural jungle

We are staying at the beautiful Lakeside Inn in Lakeside, Michigan. It was beautiful for the first hour and then a horrific thunderstorm came in with 70mph winds. It knocked down several large trees and the power at 6 p.m. on Friday night. It's almost 8 a.m. on Saturday as I write this and the power is still out. The wedding and the reception are supposed to be here and I'm fairly certain we are gonna need some power to pull those two events off. Gulp!

06.17.10 an urban oasis

Visiting my sister in Chicago before heading out to a wedding in Michigan. That's her in her beautiful backyard garden filled with edible noms.

06.16.10 in my hot little hands

That's right, the Mudbugs' self-titled debut album! Can I get an AIEEEEEEEE??? You can purchase them on our website, I've got a stash nearby at all times, or better yet, come out to one of our shows. The album will be on iTunes and all of the other usual places in about four weeks.

Also, check out this behind-the-scenes video of the making of our album.

06.15.10 waiting for a train

Spent several hours on these tracks waiting for something to happen with a train that was stuck on a collapsing bridge. I spent my time wisely putting together a video I shot earlier in the day about a father/son kidney transplant.

The best part of the excursion is that I was close to Wellington and I got to stop in at my honey's studio and give him a big smooch. Thankfully, his clients do mind a little PDA.

06.14.10 mmmmmmmmmmm

A few weeks ago I found out that Klondike makes a 180 calorie ice cream sandwich. A few days ago I discovered that they also make a 100 calorie version of the same thing and it is delish.

06.13.10 crazy cats

After shooting a dozen or so gay pride parades over the years, I pretty much know what to expect. Lots of hairless men lathered in baby oil, colorful flags and there is almost always a Cher impersonator.

When I first saw these cats I thought they might be up to no good, but they had a gay time just like everyone else.

06.12.10 Mudbuggin'

It's hard to take pictures of the Mudbugs in action when you are a Mudbug yourself. So, here's the obligatory CRG & J-ME picture before the show.

Last night was a great time. I've never seen so many people at Oeno. Thanks to everyone who came out. The only downside of being in a band is that you don't get much time to visit with all of the people who came out to see you.

06.06.10 earth day everyday

Line drying my white dress in my green bathroom.

06.05.10 Dapper Dan

Another fabulous croquet party at the Bartlett Arboretum. This is Phil Macey (Robin's papa) saluting the crowd after he was given the Dapper Dan award in his 1953 dress whites.

06.04.10 meet my savior

It's Joe. He took me to get my car from the shop after I was foolishly contemplating walking 5.6 miles in insane heat to get it myself.

Riding around in Joe's truck always makes me think of this, although we had a hairy dog in the cab when we made that video who would've eaten the Doritos and other party appetizers.

06.01.10 BOOTS

DD has spent the past week visiting from California and making music with CRG. This is his umpteenth visit to Kansas and he finally decided to buy a pair of boots! The ones he picked out have a spot for spurs which will probably come in handy in L.A.
