08.29.10 Rice County Courthouse

Lyons, Kansas

08.28.10 patio practice

We Mudbugs & honorary Mudbugs got together for a practice on our patio. The evening included: kabobs, sarsaparilla swigging and tiki torches. It was a good thing Blixie took a catnap before the festivities began.

Our washboard player Juliah can't make our gig this Tuesday at Botanica so a few honorary Mudbugs tried scratching the board. They learned it's a lot harder than it looks. If you're up for the challenge, get on down to Botanica. We play from 5:30-7:30.

08.27.10 working for the Boss

Finally received the official info from Bruce's lawyers with info on how to pay him his royalty check. The next round of drinks is on the Mudbugs.

08.26.10 My little Honda

Been shooting lots and lots of cars all week. My editor told me he didn't care if I shot my car, too, but then he winced when I suggested I put it in this gallery. BTW, the Hummer is not mine.

08.25.10 organ bowels

Watched an organ builder tune a pipe organ. He comes from Denmark once every four years. A little more work than tuning a drum.

08.17.10 Buster's

Spent some time doing a story on Buster's Saloon in Sun City, Kansas (pop. 43). That's Moose on the floor. He just turned three and his owners say that's 21 in dog years which makes it OK for him to be in the bar.

08.16.10 WOW!

I'm thinking I should probably dust underneath my bed a lot more regularly. Yikes!

08.15.10 No more naps!

I enjoyed listening to Lexi and her friend L talk about the start of kindergarten (an adventure that begins in three days). The two agree that the best thing about it is that they will no longer have to take naps.

08.14.10 the taste of summer

Nobody makes a better mojito than this woman. Seriously. It takes her a good 20 minutes, but it is soooo worth the wait.

08.13.10 underwater

First time I stepped into a pool all summer. I shot pics of our posse including a bubbly self-portrait. I accidentally chopped off Carter's head in all of the pics I shot of him (here it is intact).

08.12.10 collector's edition

Just picked up a big box of Mudbugs shirts in grey, white, pink and tan and this one in red. I only made one because I wasn't sure if the maroon logo would work on the red shirt. I think it does and I wish I had ordered a few more in this color.

The shirts will be $10 at our shows and I will also be selling them online soon (details to come). I made several in little Mudbug sizes.

08.11.10 my first melon

I do believe that this is the first watermelon I've ever purchased (mine is on the far right). I bought it from friendly "Farmer Jim" on the side of the road. I think that's his name, at least that's what was printed on his hat. Who knows? I guess it could be the name of some death metal band.

08.06.10 Amy & Fletcher

Documented another beautiful wedding at my favorite venue.

Amy and Fletcher were so much fun to shoot. Check out Fletcher's smile when he saw Amy for the first time while she was walking down the aisle. I loved taking detail shots of Fletcher's Tree of Life cufflinks (a gift from Amy), their homemade buttonnieres (not a misspelling, they were made with buttons) and crocheted hairpieces.

The colors were stunning, too. Check out the delicious lemon and lavender cupcakes and hot pink and gorgeous women.

My trusty assistant not only helped me shoot, but also live Tweeted during the festivities.

08.03.10 this photo was staged

Carrie was actually working when Ted asked her, "What is an iPad? Tell me about this mysterious and wonderful device."

She has left and I'm getting giddy on coffee. It's gonna be a long night. The score is tied at the moment.
