10.29.10 no child left behind without a pumpkin

The seventh graders of Wichita Collegiate School proudly display their picks from the Bartlett Arboretum's pumpkin patch. Can you spot Amy in this pic?

10.28.10 worth the wait

My new drum throne (that's really what it's called) arrived today after being back-ordered for an eternity. I could not be happier.

10.27.10 Burning Brook's Brace

Brook spent six weeks in a neck brace and it took three minutes to burn that sucker!

Oh, and, yes, their Christmas lights are up already.

10.23.10 that's how you do it

I saw a few veterans of the Midwest Beerfest sporting these homemade pretzel necklaces. A great idea for a nosh on the move. I went unprepared.

10.22.10 a very good snug

Spent the day on the couch due to a very sour stomach. I got to catch up on most of last season's "The Office" that I missed and spend a lot of quality time with my Blixie.

10.21.10 educating the youths

Spoke to a video production class at Marshall Middle School and they loved Joe's music video "I Touched Neil Young's Car." One kid was even singing the chorus after the video had stopped.

10.20.10 NOMS!

When your entire report card consists of nothing but the letter A, you get to go anywhere you want for dinner and order whatever the heck you want. One of our A students wanted Chuckie Cheese's and the other wanted to go to Sumo (and so did two parents). They compromised and came up with Red Lobster where they dined on all kinds of crusty crustaceans and a warm chocolate chip lava cookie dessert.

She was pumped about this putt for par and who wouldn't be? It was the state golf tournament, after all.

Chillaxing after a very long (and very fun) day.

10.17.10 WestGlen weekend

Spent the weekend helping Denise with a delicious spread for a party to celebrate her sister's new office building. Here's Denise looking amazed at her creations. They really were delish.

10.14.10 grilling

When did it start getting dark so early? I know I am in the minority, but I already miss summer.

10.11.10 BNSF

It's much more fun when the trains aren't on the tracks.

10.10.10 Kinda like Where's Waldo?

Check out my friend Amy in red waving from the starting line of the Prairie Fire Wichita Marathon. She ran the half-marathon and made it look easy.

Here's another woman saluting a friend in the crowd at the finish line of the half.

10.05.10 windy

I've shot more golf in the past week than I have in the past three years.

10.01.10 Riverside Supper Club

They were billed as Joe Stumpe and the Riversides and also the Riverside Diners, but we all know them now as the Riverside Supper Club. This was their first meeting at the Artichoke and we all sure do hope they do it again, just like Joe's song says.

09.30.10 that's more like it

The men's locker room at the Wichita Country Club was transformed into the women's locker room for the U.S. Women's Mid-Amatuer. The winner was given flowers but, thankfully, they weren't mums.
