05.30.12 my first storm chase

Call it beginner's luck, but it's actually more like years of experience (not on my part, but my travel companion's). I spent the day chasing storms with meteorologist Mike Smith who has 40+ years of experience. Several storms were in western Kansas but he had a good feeling all along that this particular one is where we'd find a tornado. We actually found two.

05.29.12 sunflower seeds

I thought I was through shooting softball for a good long while but I did spend a little bit of time in the dugout shooting some All-metro players today.

05.28.12 tie dye

I've been collecting squirt bottles for about a year in anticipation of tie dying shirts with friends. Mine has been sitting overnight and I can't wait to unwrap it and see what kind or art I created.

05.27.12 first kiss

Spent the day organizing stuff. I was glad to find my 2007 calendar. This entry was from January and it happened a few days after our first date to Red Beans.

05.26.12 state champs

For the third time in three years the Andale/Garden Plain softball team has won the 4A Softball title. I'm pretty sure it was just as sweet for them this time around.

The second place team is losing only one senior so they could get another shot at the title next year.

05.25.12 pink cowboy boots

This softball player gets a hug from a friend after her team lost in the state tournament. The cowboy boots are awesome. Pretty sure they don't have cleats underneath.

05.24.12 Mouse Trap

Did anyone actually play the game or was the game simply making the Rube Goldberg contraption? It was (and is) always the latter with me.

05.20.12 pool party

Every party needs a celebratory cake. Catherine, age 9, designed this on paper first and then took a total of 10 minutes to create it. I thought she was a little whacked when she first told me she was going to use fig newtons. Clearly, I didn't get her vision. I get it now and it's amazing. Oh, and that's a Mudbug crawling out of the pool on the left. We're already fantasizing about the next pool party cake.

Our former intern shows off a book the boss bought him to celebrate his graduation from KU.

05.13.12 a breakfast oasis on the Plains

We woke up at 8 a.m. and discussed our options. Option A: head to the IHOP seven miles from the hotel in Wichita Falls. Option B: Drive two hours to the nearest Waffle House in Oklahoma City. "There really is only one option," said Gregatron and 134 miles later the Mudbugs dined.

05.12.12 Texas, y'all

Played a great show at Cajun Fest in Wichita Falls. Afterwards we went to a pretty authentic Texas steakhouse (pictured here) where the giant portions are served Cowboy Style, as in really large

05.05.12 my new reflector

I almost lost my lovely assistant and my new gigantic reflector in the Cinco de Mayo de Wind. It's cumbersome but it puts off some pretty powerful light.

05.04.12 she's growing

We started a project to photograph Mara in front of this yard stick once a week. It's an attempt to document her growth, which is not an easy task for a cat. They have super powers that make them look really long and then they can curl up and be a tiny fuzzball. Very strange.

05.02.12 cat show

We're not planning on showing our girl but she does have the qualification to do so. She's royalty.

04.30.12 the youngest model

I have photographed this mama at least a dozen times over the past 13 years at the Eagle. She's a great fashion model and an even better person. It was really fun for me to shoot her with her little girl, Gia.
