12.30.13 More kittehs!

Brought home a litter of four 5-week-old kittens and their mama. We'll foster them for about three weeks. I'm already in love and so is their new friend, Helen.

12.29.13 WuShock

This young man told me that his time at Wichita State University has been so magical that he wanted to remember it forever with a tattoo of WuShock. The Shockers are now 13-0.

12.27.13 Christmas cards

I think most people who know me well will be surprised to learn that I save Christmas cards (I try to live a clutter-low life). Today I found this card my NYC friend Kara made in 2004 using subway maps and glitter. I love it.

12.25.13 a Christmas tradition

It's become a tradition to get into the studio to create something. This time it was to make a song for my year-end video for this blog.

12.24.13 doing the Kirk Russell

The story goes something like this. Kirk was having dinner with Carter at Ma Green's house when she put out four pies. (Ma is a big believer that there should be one pie per person.) Kirk's no fool and wanted to try them all but knew that would not be good for his rockstar figure. His technique is to take a sliver of all the pies. Genius! And so, the Kirk Russell was born.

That's CRG shooting a picture of the Kirk Russell to send to the Kirk Russell.

12.23.13 shlepping in the snow

Shaping up to be a white Christmas, after all.

12.15.13 Mr. Broussard, Jr.

Saw a familiar face underneath that colorful Cajun cap at the WSU graduation ceremony. That would be Mr. Broussard, Jr and he graduated with a degree in business. His family is a bunch of displaced Cajuns who come out to our Mudbugs shows frequently. The Broussards are a great group of people and wonderful dancers.

12.14.13 Santa and the Shockers

I can't believe I missed this gem on my initial edit of photos from the game.

12.13.13 Manguage

Ever since I met my man (I guess I should probably say mang) he's been looking forward ways to Manganize words with his friends. They think it's pretty funny and I'm just not too sure what to think. They call each other mang and love finding variations of the word like this one.

12.09.13 AP Kansas Photo of the Year

In Kansas City where I picked up a major award for this picture.

12.08.13 snake

Daddy did a little negotiating at the arcade gift shop. This sweet beauty (the stuffed snake, not the kid) was a steal at 415 tickets.

12.06.13 E.T.

After a lot of hemming and hawing I decided E.T. should call someone else because he wasn't going home with me. Of course I later regretted it.

12.03.13 big dudes

Took my annual trek to Emporia with Joanna to shoot the Eagle's Top 11 football team. She likes to take a funny photo after the more serious one that I shoot.

12.02.13 Central Lock & Key

A downtown Wichita institution since 1903.

12.01.13 John Mayer

First time in Wichita. Too bad I only got to see three songs because it seemed like it was gonna be a great show.

11.30.13 big boy's birthday party

Troy turned 40 and invited his friends to his country homes to shoot guns (real ones and paintball guns), eat cupcakes and sandwiches. I had a fun time even though I don't shoot guns but I do shoot pictures.

11.29.13 Boots

He's a sweet boy.

11.26.13 fresh turkey

Made a trip to Yoder to snag a fresh turkey from our favorite Mennonites. The turkey at far right is Robin who was born on Thanksgiving day. She has a fondness for all things turkey including plush foul hats.

11.25.13 what a turkey

Wichita Firefighters tried unsuccessfully for an hour to set a fire while giving a demonstration on how not to fry a turkey. Doh!

10.24.13 Ironworker

This is how you replace a 16,000 pound chiller from 19 floors above downtown Wichita.

11.23.13 Grandpa and Taco

He's a sweet and spoiled dog.

11.21.13 Oops!

The kitties woke me up at 4:45 so I fed them and plopped on the couch to snuggle with them. I turned CNN on and watched a story out of Wichita. Snuggle time was over and I headed to Jabara.

11.19.13 my shadow

Went to lunch with my friend Marion who is visiting from Minnesota. I was driving her back when I got a call from the boss telling me he had a breaking news assignment for me to tackle. Marion was excited to be tagging along and then we arrived. The big news was this.

11.17.13 volunteer appreciation brunch

Robin threw an amazing celebration for all the people who help her throughout the year. We all do work that fits us. My hands rarely get dirty like the majority of Soil Sisters. My work is of the multimedia variety.

11.16.13 Shalom in the home

Yes, they can get along. The bad news is that the kittens will be with us for just a few more days. The good news is that they are being adopted together by a friend.

11.13.13 WichitAWESOME!

I had a sneaky suspicion that our houseguest would think this shirt was awesome and I was right. She's in town from Vermont working on her music with CRG. Can't wait for her to return.
