05.22.14 Mudbug Madness - Shreveport edition

On busy gig days, a selfie is about all of the photos I can pull off. This was just before we played the 31st Annual Mudbug Madness in Shreveport, Louisiana. Mama Donna (Erin's mom) took a bunch of great pics here.

A ton of people asked us where we "came up from" and they were shocked when we told them that we came down from Kansas. They thought we had traveled from the bayous of Louisiana. Pretty big compliment.

05.20.14 Fluffykins

The kitties left me today to find their furrever homes.

05.19.14 Glickman's papers and such

Former Congressman and U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Dan Glickman donated papers to Wichita State University. He had something to do with making sure Playboy continued to be published in Braille. Never even knew there were articles in it.

05.18.14 League 42 at the Wingnuts

The Wingnut player unsuccessfully tried to block the kid from the finish line in the shoe game. Contestants throw their shoes into a big pile and then run from the opposite end, put on the shoes and race back. This kid had a slight advantage since he was wearing slip-on sandals.

05.15.14 time to wash the kitties

My sweet babies are doing fine without Lil' Bit. As my favorite comedian Louis C.K. recently said, "Actually, lots of things happen after you die just none of them include you." R.I.P. Lil' Bit.

05.14.14 R.I.P. Lil' Bit

I'm sad to report that one of my babies has left this world for one filled with cat nip and mice. Sweet Lil' Bit was the runt of the litter and things never quite clicked for him with the exception of my love for the feller. I'll miss you Lil' Bit.

05.13.14 STYX

STYX is in town to start their national tour at Intrust Bank Arena on May 14. Today they did something I've never seen before and had a mini rehearsal in front of a small crowd and invited the media. It was kind of awesome. Wasn't a fan before but I am now.

05.12.14 Not yet 60

Kirk and I spoke to Spaght Elementary students and the first thing they asked him was if he was 60. Not quite. Please check out the sleeping kid in the center of the photo.

05.06.14 It's that time of year

I took the day off to receive our new couch and coffee table (pictures to come) and to hang with these little ones. Totally worth it.

Picked up a four-pack of kittens to go. Two orange and two black and all very sweet. We will have them for about 2 weeks.

05.04.14 May The Fourth Be With You

First time I've ever shot a marathon with a Star Wars theme.

05.03.14 ICT Roller Girls

Carter sang the national anthem for the start of the roller derby bout and nailed it. His rendition included hints of Whitney (R.I.P.) and CRG. The Roller Girls are hardcore and awesome. Really fun to watch. My favorite character name was Pooter Smacker.

05.02.14 the future of photojournalism

Some of my photojournalism workshop students documenting each other on their photo scavenger hunt. They were a lot of fun.

05.01.14 HAPPY

Bonnie can get anyone to smile. She was invaluable as an assistant on a very fun video shoot.
