01.30.15 potato pregnancy craving

My two food cravings have been Braum's breakfast burritos (or B,B & B for short) and baked potatoes in any form. This bbq potato was particularly tasty.

01.29.15 my beloved ficus

Moving day and I found the perfect spot for my beloved ficus tree. Denise gave this to me in 1997 while we were living in Chattanooga. It was about 20 in. tall when I moved to Wichita in '99 and I came close to leaving it there. Thankfully, she persuaded me to cram it into the backseat of my two-door Honda Civic with my cat Blixie.

I love this tree so much that when our furnace was down for a few days earlier this month I used one of our three precious space heaters to keep it warm. We froze but it stayed alive and toasty.

01.16.15 LIQUOR

My neighborhood liquor store that won't be my neighborhood store much longer. Sniff. Sniff. Maybe it's because I haven't touched liquor in 17.5 weeks (who's counting) that made me think this scene was beautiful. I was actually headed there for empty boxes to use for packing and there were plenty of them.

01.15.15 Carter's Lion King impersonation

01.09.15 picture of a picture of my sister

The hardest thing about packing for me has been getting caught up in my stuff. Here's a picture of a picture I shot in 1992 of my sister Gretchen and her wild mane (I do believe she was rockin' a few hair extensions at the time). I miss her.

Sedgwick County Zoo hippos Sweet Pea and Pudgy ready for their afternoon feeding.

01.07.15 Reggie's Mama

Been packing things getting ready to move and I found this gem. It's a vintage can of Chunky Soup from 1996 with football player Reggie White.

I was living in Chattanooga where White (also known as the Minister of Defense) was from and where his mother Thelma Collier still lived. Campbell's Soup came out with an advertising campaign that still exists today called "Mama's Boy" and they claimed to use the athlete's real mothers in the commercials. Well, I know Reggie's mama and the woman in the commercial was NOT his mom and I BROKE the story in The Chattanooga Times (where I photographed her with this can that she autographed for me). She said that they asked her to do it but she was having back surgery and it just didn't work out. It's funny because, according to this video, they still insist that actress is his mama.

01.05.15 our little brick house

We've officially outgrown out little 3-bedroom house and it will be on the market soon. It's bittersweet. I've been there for nearly 11 years and made some great memories here, but I'm excited about the next chapter in life.

01.01.15 New Year's Day

Spent the first day of the new year in the Georgia mountains with a friend I've had for 27 years and her family. Not a bad way to start off the year.

2014 was EPIC!

2014 was an amazing year. It started out with a trip to New York in January with my friend Mary as she was reunited with her birth family (that's the good stuff, folks). I traveled to Louisiana and California with my Mudbugs and finished our season by headlining Zoobilee, one of the best and biggest parties in Wichita.

Along the way I met two of my all-time favorite vocalists, Ed Robertson and Idina Menzel. Traveled to NYC to see Saturday Night Live with Mary and then back again a few weeks later with my honey to celebrate my 40th and watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Sometime in early October something wonderful happened inside me and he's growing every day. Expect to see more baby photos in the later part of next year and less kitten pics. It was an EPIC year!

12.31.14 Shay

In Atlanta to celebrate the life of my dear friend Shay. It was a beautiful service that was closed with a standing ovation for a life well lived. Afterwards a ton of her many friends gathered at her house for an awesome spread (my girl Shay and her friends can COOK), laughter and tears. She will be missed.
